National Women’s Political Caucus endorses U.S. Senate Candidate Lisa Johnston
Overland Park, Kansas — July 8, 2010 — Dr. Lisa Johnston, leading Democratic candidate for United States Senate in Kansas, has earned the endorsement of the National Women’s Political Caucus (NWPC), a highly respected women’s organization.
“Ms. Johnston’s dedication to women’s rights and reproductive rights, as well as her extensive leadership experience in education, earned her the Caucus’s enthusiastic support,” stated NWPC President Lulu Flores. “If elected, she will champion the NWPC’s values of female empowerment, choice, and equality as well as act as an important voice for change on crucial social issues such as the importance of education and economic growth and job creation for Kansas.”
“I am honored to have received the endorsement of the NWPC” said Lisa Johnston. “I will continue to work with the NWPC to improve the quality of life for women and their families throughout Kansas.”
Lisa has spent the nearly two decades in higher education. Prior to taking a leave of absence to run for U.S. Senate, Lisa served for seven years as Assistant Dean at Baker University. As a result of her administrative experience, Lisa has strong personnel, project, and budget management skills. She was actively involved in the university governance and legislative process, serving and holding leadership positions on a wide variety of committees and on the faculty senate. As a result of more than a decade of experience as a university administrator, she has extensive experience with political dynamics, working through strong differences of opinion, and finding solutions to problems.
Lisa hopes to bring a fresh perspective to the U.S. Senate and to be a strong voice for education. “The overwhelming majority of U.S. Senators have professional backgrounds in law, business or politics” said Lisa “Education is under-represented. We need more U.S. Senators who understand education from the inside. I feel my leadership experience, professional expertise in education, desire to represent the people, and commitment to serve with integrity will allow me to succeed as a U.S. Senator and fight for what is best for Kansans and all Americans.”
